Personal training in Carytown, Richmond, VA — right on West Cary Street. ReDefineRVA is a boutique training studio at 2609 W. Cary Street, on the eastern edge of Carytown between Mulberry and Robinson. If you live in Carytown, the Fan, the Museum District, or Byrd Park, you can walk to us in under 15 minutes — and most Carytown locations in about 5.
We're a personal training studio — not a gym
The distinction matters when you're choosing where to invest your time. A gym sells you a membership and equipment access. A personal training studio sells you a coach who writes your program, watches your form, and progresses your training week to week. ReDefineRVA only does the second thing.
Every session is appointment-based. There's no day-pass crowd, no waiting for a rack, no music you didn't choose. A small studio with a handful of trainers and clients in at a time — quiet and focused.
Where we are — 2609 W. Cary Street
We're on West Cary Street between Mulberry and Robinson — at the eastern edge of Carytown, where it meets the Fan. The easiest way to find us: from Carytown, head east on Cary across Boulevard. The Beet Box juice bar is the building right before us — once you pass The Beet Box on your right, we're the very next building (the 2-story brick one with our logo on the front), just before Robinson Street. If you've crossed Robinson and see PBR (Pizza & Beer of Richmond), you've gone one block too far. We're a short walk from most of the Fan and an easy walk into the heart of Carytown:
- From the main Carytown shopping strip (Cary Court / Carytown Plaza / the Byrd Theatre): ~5 minute walk west on Cary (depending on where you start), or a 2-minute drive.
- From the Fan (Allen + Park): 5-minute walk south.
- From the Museum District (VMFA area): 10-minute walk south.
- From VCU main campus: 10-minute drive.
- From downtown Richmond: 10-minute drive west on Cary.
Parking
Free street parking on West Cary Street in front of and around the studio — no meters. Each side of the road does have time-restricted parking on certain days, so check the posted signs before you walk away. We'll include the parking specifics for your consult day in your booking confirmation.
Who we train in this neighborhood
Our client base is mostly Carytown / Fan / Museum District residents and people who commute into work nearby. Common profiles:
- Professionals in their 30s–50s who want a coach instead of a Planet Fitness membership they won't use.
- Carytown residents who like the idea of walking to their workout.
- VCU faculty and grad students looking for a real strength program, not a campus rec gym vibe.
- Post-rehab clients who got discharged from physical therapy and need a coach to bridge them back to full training.
- Long-time runners, climbers, and cyclists adding strength work to round out their training.
Three ways to train with us
Pick what fits your schedule and budget. Clients sometimes switch between services over time depending on what they need.
Semi-Private Personal Training — starts at $45/session

Same coach, same focused attention as 1-on-1, lower cost per session. Clients sometimes switch between services over time depending on what they need. Read more about semi-private training →
2-on-1 Personal Training
You and one workout partner. Same trainer, two personalized programs, lower cost than two 1-on-1 sessions. Great for couples, friends, or co-workers who want accountability. Read more about 2-on-1 training →
1-on-1 Personal Training
1-on-1 sessions run in our upstairs space - with at most 2–4 1-on-1 sessions happening at the same hour with their own trainer. Use this if you're new to lifting, working around a recent injury, or you want maximum attention to form. Read more about 1-on-1 training →
